Last Year Trends You can Still Buy This Year

2020 wasn’t a fashionable year, at least for most of us, it was all about work from home. As all the schools and colleges were shut for almost the entire year, teens and young guys were unable to do any style. Last year’s trends included elements like futuristic chunky shoes and ’80s and ’90s nostalgia wear.

Some of these trends from the last year are still going strong and are relevant in 2021 too. This article will make sure you get to know about some of the menswear styles from last year’s trend that are still hot this year. If you were unable to buy these styles or make these outfits last year, this year is the time to go for them.

These styles were hot last year, most of them started gaining popularity a few years ago. Some made a comeback after decades. These also include innovations and going futuristic. Earth tones like in pastels is also an example.

This article tells you about such popular trends from last year you can still buy and wear in 2021. If you missed getting or styling them in 2020 this is the right time to get some of these pieces and style them with your outfits. These trends include footwear, outfits, materials, etc.

1. Futuristic Chunky Shoes(with retro elements)

Looks like this trend isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. They are already seen everywhere and most brands are making these shoes now. The shoes men use to wear in the 80s and 90s are back with some modern touches. Shoes back then were mostly chunky and colorful.

Most of the chunky shoes made today are updated versions of the same shoe from the 80s and 90s. They might have the design or colorways or the structure of the shoes that were popular back in the ’80s and ’90s. They look futuristic but also have a retro vibe to them and retro wear is a trend that is still going well. Chunky sneakers are also a big thing in streetwear, they can help make a cool street outfit.

Nike shoes

Some good and affordable chunky sneakers are Puma RS-X series, Reebok Classics Aztrek, Nike Air Max Triax 96(above) which is almost identical to its real 90s version, etc.

2. Cargo Pants

Cargo are the type of pants most men would stay away from five years ago.Times have changed and a lot of guys are now seen wearing them. These pants are now going pretty strong and were all over Instagram last year. They are now rocked by a lot of influencers and celebrities.

Blue cargo pants

Cargo pants made a solid comeback last year. They are now upgraded into the modern version and can be referred to as technical pants, which is part of technical or functional wear. These modern cargo pants now look better and well-fitted than the old ones. Some of these new cargo pants might have extra pockets and drawstrings and also some other smaller details.

3. Retro Styles

All of us know how cool fashion in the ’80s and ’90s was. There were graphics, stripes, vibrant colors, oversized clothes, etc. Most of the style pieces we wear today are inspired by fashion from the retro era. Some pieces are the upgraded versions.
As the retro nostalgia wear trend is huge for a few years now, you can get some retro-style clothing pieces to add to your outfits. The 80s and 90s effect seem to be in everything now. This trend just won’t seem to stop. We talk about shoes, hoodies, and jackets, the retro effect is found in a lot of these.

4. Pastels

Just like the last couple of years, Pastel colors are still going well in menswear. They are neat, minimal, and gives the outfit a relaxed vibe. Pastels as you might know are lighter shades of certain colors making them look light and soft.

They are less saturated versions of certain vibrant and bright colors. Most common shades include yellow, grey, white, pink, cream, etc. There are sweatshirts, hoodies, shirts, pants, etc available in pastels. If your wardrobe consists of all prints and designs, you can get some pastel-colored pieces this year. Many brands are producing blank staples in pastels that you can get.

5. Monochromatic outfits

Monochromes are the outfits where you wear both the top and bottom of the same color. To make your outfits cooler, you can keep a difference in the shades of the color in your top and bottom piece. For example, we can take an outfit where khaki pants are paired with a tan shirt. Notice that both khaki and tan fall in the same color scheme or category and are different shades of the same color(brown) because of different hues. Most of you might be wearing outfits like this without even knowing that monochromatic is a term in menswear.

Monochromatic outfits were popular and seen a lot of times in recent years. Celebs rocked monochromatic outfits in some of the coolest ways possible. Monochrome outfits of now are more intense and there is way too much difference in the top and bottom pieces. It is not easy to pull off monochrome outfits but if done well, it will make you look like a style professional.
