Koton is a stylish Turkish fashion house that many in India don’t know about. It makes apparel for both men and women. One of Turkey’s biggest brands, it has been in the fashion industry for a while now and has hundreds of stores in different countries.
Known to be producing stylish yet affordable apparel, they keep up with the season’s latest trends and their collection is huge too. Shirts, t-shirts, pants, sweatshirts, you say it, they got everything covered.
Koton entered India back in 2015 via a tie-up with the e-commerce site FashionAndYou. You can now buy their products on the fashion website Ajio.com and the Ajio app.
I discovered the brands Koton and Defacto(another huge Turkish fashion brand) on Ajio last year and wanted to try them as soon as possible. I was finally able to order some stuff from Koton on Ajio. This was my first time buying from a Turkish fashion brand. I had no idea about the quality and type of fitting their products have.
What I liked about their products
Their designs were the first thing that caught my attention. All of the styles were super trendy and modern. Also, the pricing was okay when looking at the website. All of their products fall in the category of mid-range when it comes to prices so it’s a mid-range brand.
The majority of the shirts, sweaters, and sweatshirts were priced around INR 1000 after discounts. Some of the jeans were on the expensive side (INR 2000 and above).
Clothing Pieces Review
The three pieces I got (outerwear).
Looking at the pieces for the first time will definitely please you. All three products were stylish and exactly how they looked online. Looked good and felt good in hands. For the price paid, all three products were worth it. I got the products at a good discount but they’re not worth paying the retail price for. Here’s why-
The quality was fine for the price I paid but on a scale of bad – average – good, I would rate them average. I expected better quality, way better than it actually is. The best quality out of the three was the orange sweater, which was 100% cotton. The color of all three products was good and are all made in Turkey.
The fitting was disappointing. If you’re super skinny, their products might not fit you the way you would want them to. If you’re a skinny athletic body type like me(5’9 height), both the sweater and sweatshirt fit perfectly around the neck and shoulders but are wider on the bottom. It’s not a very big problem though, they still look good.
The sweatshirt(hoodie) was the worst-fitting piece out of the three. Fits well around the shoulder but was lengthy and super-wide from the bottom for a size small. It almost looked like an oversized hoodie being a regular fit.
The orange cotton sweater is well made and the color was perfect but a con is it’s fitting. It will fit but the sweater is straight as it goes down. There might be excessive fabric left around the waist area that leads to bagging making the sweater look ill-fitting. The sweater might fit better if it did not stretch much or have been slightly slimmer from the chest down. The sleeves were on the longer side too. I got similar lightweight sweaters from brands Buffalo, Van Heusen, and others and all of them have better fittings for the size small.
The third piece is a cotton and acrylic blend sweater. 50% cotton and 50% acrylic. It’s a beautiful maroon color. This is less stretchable and fits better than the orange sweater. The sleeves are shorter than the other sweater and end in the right place.
Styling the Pieces-
White cotton/polyester Hoodie
A minimal white hoodie is a super stylish piece. Every young should own one that has no crazy patterns or designs. This hoodie can be worn with jeans, chinos, and shorts. It’s made from cotton and polyester making it lightweight so you rock this piece throughout the summer. it can be layered inside a denim or bomber jacket during the colder months.
Orange Cotton Sweater
An orange sweater is something that is rarely seen in a man’s closet but that doesn’t mean it’s not stylish. After getting my hands on the sweater I can tell you that it’s a stylish piece and can be worn in various ways.
The color is a clean faded orange, that is different from the regular blacks, browns, and greys, making it stand out. The sweater is appealing and a great style piece you can own this year. it is lightweight so can be worn all year in all seasons.
Maroon Cotton/acrylic Sweater
This sweater has the best fitting of the three pieces. The product is cotton acrylic mix so is less stretchable and fits me right. Maroon color is super cool and the sweater is a great (essential) fall piece. Unlike the other two pieces, this sweater is a bit dressier so can be worn on semi-formal occasions too. It looks good with jeans and if you wanna switch things up a bit formal, pair it with a shirt inside and beige chinos for a stand-out fall look.
